As a young adult with ADHD, I always need something to fiddle with in my hands. I’ve tried a lot of other of these “fidget toy” type products before, such as the fidget spinner, fidget cube, etc. However, I quickly stopped using those and resorted to using random stuff: pencils, bottlecaps, old twist ties and the like, for a few reasons. For me, fidget toys need to be:Quiet: I don’t want to annoy others with what I’m doing to calm my hands. More importantly, I don’t want it to annoy me.Portable: I need to be able to use it anywhere. I’m not whipping out a bunch of magnets or some big tablet of pseudo bubble wrap out in public. And I’m not gonna carry those things around either.Able to be used with one hand: Oftentimes, I and many others have to use one or more hands to do things. However, if both hands are dedicated to a fidget toy, then it kind of defeats the purpose.High quality/durable: A fidget toy is going to be used a lot. It’s gonna be mashed, mangled, kneaded, and squeezed constantly over the course of weeks, months, or years. If it’s cheap or flimsy, it’s gonna start making noise or breaking.Able to be done absentmindedly (but not too much): A fidget toy needs to be something you do in the background. If it’s too complex, it’ll take focus and effort away from what you actually need to be focusing on. But if it’s not complex enough, then it doesn’t divert enough of that nervous energy.Satisfying: Probably the most important. If it’s not a satisfying feel in the hand or a satisfying action to do, it’s never going to be used. All the fidget toys I tried before failed one or more of those criteria. But then I bought the ONO Roller on a whim based on a few recommendations. And it’s perfect. It fits every single criteria above, and is the only fidget toy I’ve tried that does so. It’s satisfying, quiet, durable, just the right type of action that can be done in one or both hands, and portable (they even throw in a nice little drawstring pouch to keep it in). It’s a little pricey, but it’s 100% worth it. Whenever mine starts wearing out eventually, I plan to pick up another one.

I’ve got a drawer full of stim tools and fidget toys. They all have a problem – too noisy, not comfortable to use, awkward, baby-toy-looking, or annoying after a few minutes. I tried this roller on a whim, and I’m back to buy more.Pros:1. Silent! There’s slight noise of friction of the roller against the hand, but it’s minimal. Nothing to annoy others while you’re watching TV or sitting on a call.2. Discrete. So nice not to have a baby toy (as other toys look) sitting on my desk or in my hand in public.3. Very easy to carry. It really does slip into a front pocket of my jeans, which I didn’t think would be for real.4. Perfect weight. My hand doesn’t get fatigued, nor does it feel like extra weight in my bag or pocket. But it feels substantial enough to be very satisfying. Not cheap or flimsy.5. Flawless action. So many toys have irritating catches, hiccups, or clicks when you’re using them. This one just rolls smoothly and easily. Not in a slippery way, though, just smoooooth.6. Rolling action really works for stimming. I was skeptical this would be appealing, but my brain practically shouted with joy the first time I picked it up. Very soothing and satisfying. I find myself looking for it if I put it down somewhere, just to keep my free hand busy. I’m buying more to keep them in different rooms – by the TV, on my desk, in my purse…Cons:The price, maybe? But seriously, anyone who stims knows how much you can waste on cheap, crappy stim tools. Save yourself some money and just buy this one.A note on sizing: I have a ladies gloves size medium, and the Junior is about perfect. I’m tempted to try the Original, but only because I find that the bottom edge can rub my hands a tiny bit if I’m really rolling this thing fast. But I love the weight and compactness of the Junior, so I’m keeping one of those either way, if only for travel.
Reasonably Paranoid –
I first bought one for my boyfriend to keep him occupied at work on the slower days. His job is really hands on, so when he has to do desk work, he’s kind of miserable. He loved it so much that I ended up ordering 2 more for my brothers who both have ADHD and do the same kind of work. I’ve tried it myself and it’s a lot of fun. The texture is smooth which makes it spin easily in your hand. It’s almost hard to stop playing with it once you start because it spins so fluidly! It’s a little expensive but it’s built very well with quality materials and once you buy this, I don’t see yourself needing any other fidget toys. The best part is that it’s completely silent so you can take it into the movie theater, into meetings, etc.

Anxiety and stress help.
I’m a 32 year old chap trying to navigate his way through life whilst waiting for an Autism assessment to take place. Life has often been a struggle for me, perhaps more so than others. I tend to find Anxiety, Stress and Depression builds over time to a point that it becomes unbearable and something “breaks” so to speak. I often feel like I’m fluttering between a cycle of pent up emotions, breakdown, recovery (piecing myself back together) and beginning all over again whilst waiting for the next “break”. This may seem a negative opening, but please bare with me.I have been using this device now for a short period of time and I have noticed excellent results. I’m not the type of person who will sit here and say that this will absolutely work for you … results will vary as we are all different and this is what adds colour to the world. From my perspective, I have felt significantly less anxious when rolling this around in my hand. The texture is pleasing and I particularly like how it seems to absorb the cold. Put it in the fridge or freezer and the results are incredibly pleasing.I recently began a new job. On my first day, I was scheduled to be in the office. I usually work from home, but I had to go in and collect equipment and meet people. As somebody who suffers with social anxiety, this is always a daunting prospect. I took this device with me to the office, using it both on route and whilst in the office with people and nobody even noticed. I was worried it would be noticed and I would be questioned about it and I would have to divulge information I wasn’t ready to share openly with strangers. Nobody noticed. It’s discreet and silent, and I was able to use it all day to my hearts content. It definitely helped me feel more balanced and made navigating the challenge of this daunting new environment far easier.I also have an ongoing problem with picking my nails and skin on my fingers. I’ve had this issue as long as I can remember. I’ve tried all sorts throughout my life so far to stop it. I’ve even tried Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques, but nothing really changed the compulsive desire to tear my hands apart. Even with professional therapy, it’s never gone away. When I get stressed, anxious or depressed, I destroy my hands. It’s always been this way and I didn’t think anything could change this. Especially having tried so much over the years. This isn’t just minor picking either, I really will destroy my fingers without really realising I am doing it.However, I am extremely proud to say that my hands are looking significantly better now and it is thanks to this roller. I will include a photo as evidence of this. This device keeps my hands busy and prevents me from picking my cuticles and biting my nails. I honestly can’t recall the last time I saw my hands looking this good, which means it was probably way back in my childhood that they last looked like this.In my new role, it was nice to go and be able to shake hands with people without having plasters on each of my fingers or trying to hide them from view. It was also nice to experience a handshake without pain for a change. In the future, I would like to be a therapist. I am currently training towards this goal. Part and parcel of the training is developing a deep understanding of myself and self awareness. Through this, I have learned a lot about myself, my compulsions, patterns, thoughts and behaviours, but have never come across anything physically that really helped me. That is until now, of course. They often say the simplest things can work best. This is a simple device, but for me the results have been sensational. The size is great, it’s discreet and I really can’t demonstrate the impact it has had on me other than through this, admittedly, lengthy review.Though the device is simple, it is robust and clearly manufactured well. This will easily last me a long time. It may seem pricey for what it is, but I personally think the cost is justified considering the benefits I have got from this.As stated previously, people are unique, varying and multifaceted. Your experience with this may differ to mine and that is ok. At least you have the option to try it and return it if it doesn’t work for you. Personally, I think it’s a no brainer to try at least and see if it helps you too. Please note from the photos that my fingers aren’t perfect, as they are still recovering from the last attack before I got the ONO. However, they are almost healed which wouldn’t have been possible without the help of this. I won’t include a photo of what they were like before getting this as it is graphic and unpleasant to see, you will just have to take my word for it that this is a huge improvement.

Fantastic
My son is 9 with sensory processing disorder. He’s super bright but couldn’t settle down to write in class as his anxiety and distraction was too overwhelming. This roller is fantastic, is silent, simple and easy to use and helps my son to focus and manage his anxiety. His teacher is amazed at the difference it makes. I bought the black one so it didn’t look like a toy and so didn’t draw attention. He is so thrilled that he has a strategy now. Can’t recommend enough. The roller is sleek, quiet, a pleasing weight in the palm and a smooth roll. My eldest daughter has started biting her nails in anxiety… hurts what she’s getting for Christmas?!

Really nicely designed, and soothing
I like the size, and the bright colour. It’s eye-catching and perfect for my small hands. The design is sleek, it has a reasonable weight so feels satisfying to hold, and the mechanism rolls easily and smoothly. It feels sturdy but I suppose time will tell. Very nice though!

Surprisingly satisfying and effective!
OK so I bought this expecting it to be a gimmick. I am very happy to say I was proven wrong!I work in IT, it gets stressful and often I tap on the desk or rattle stuff. This annoys my work mates. And it absolutely does so.Pros+smooth action+silent+Size fits perfectly in my hand+Satisfys fidget urges+Quality is top line, very nice finish and feels solid.Cons- The price is high but Quality kind of makes up for it.-sometimes it’s hard to stop hahaGo ahead, take the plunge into the rolling world of ONO!
